The Gorvin Family and an Irish Connection

My great grandmother, Frances Elizabeth Gorvin, was born on 22 Jan 1887 at the Military Station, Agra, India where her birth certificate shows her father, Edward Gorvin, was serving as a Bombardier with the Royal Artillery and her mother as Mary, maiden name Pender.

Her parents marriage certificate records her father as Edward Gorvin, Gunner Private based at Kilkenny Barracks but her mother's surname is Prendergast, she is age 18 and resident at Johns Green, Kilkenny. The marriage took place at St Johns, Kilkenny on 1st Apr 1876. but unfortunately the certificate I have is a bit battered and torn with the last section missing and has no details of either party's parents.

Frances married Walter Frederick Durrant on 19 Oct 1907 at Christ Church, Erith, Kent where her marriage certificate shows her father as James Gorvin, a soldier. I am not sure if he attended the wedding as family lore states he had "left home".

So at present the unanswered questions are what is correct first name the father, what happened to him, what is correct surname of the mother, who are the Pender / Prendergast family and what happened to Mary. Answers on a postcard please or use the "Contact Us" button on the homepage.
